Haunt; be persistently in the mind of (someone). Kaveh would never know, but he has been haunting Alhaitham's thoughts long before he became a ghost.
Kaveh took a step back, eyes widening. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
They kept at it—one step forward, one step back—until Alhaitham backed Kaveh into the bookcase. He knew Alhaitham couldn’t touch him in this spectral form, but that didn’t stop Kaveh’s heart from threatening to jump out of his chest at his predatory gaze.
“Your scent—you were there, in the bathroom,” Alhaitham said, voice low. “You watched me shower.”
If they could, his eyes would have widened even further.
Or, in which Kaveh becomes a ghost and goes poltergeist on his roommate's ass.

I was the sun and the wind and the water and the dirt and I was in a prison and I was the prison. I feel like I’m blindfolded, now, without that sense of the world, but also everything is so bright and loud and close and I hardly know how I’m managing to speak to you when my skin is feeling wind for the first time in a century. It’s…” she trails off, her words failing her, which is infuriating because she’s a scholar, she’s good at words. “It’s a lot,” she finishes awkwardly, for lack of anything better to say.
