“Are you married?” She asks bluntly and drags a hand through her tangled black hair. “Ouch. My dad’s a doctor, but he never wears a ring, says it can be a hazard.”
Jack walks closer to her to make sure she doesn’t take off. “I am, come on, we need to get your wounds looked at.”
“To her?” The girl’s blue eyes cut to where her friends are being treated by Dr. Mohan.

Dana holds out two hands to stop him from searching for the resident. “Hey! Chill out, she’s good. She’s taking a break for a few minutes.”
This does nothing to lessen his stress; if anything, it fuels it more. “She never takes breaks. What happened?”
Dana rolls her eyes at the protectiveness and mutters something under her breath that Jack doesn’t fully catch. She looks over his shoulder to make sure Perlah and Princess are not close by to eavesdrop.
In a quiet voice, she says, “We think a patient grabbed her stethoscope; she had it during rounds, and now she can’t find it anywhere. We watched the security cameras, and it looks like a patient nabbed it in chairs.”
