“You aren’t staying the night? Dabi did inform you this is a sleepover, did he not? It’s bad form to leave before the party has actually begun,” Mister Compress said as he came in.
There is a brief pause as Hawks looks to Dabi, mouth agape. Then, he squints at the man. “No, he did not.”
“Oops.”
“You’re not even remotely sorry.”
“Guilty as charged, officer.”or
The League invites Hawks over for game night after learning just how stressed and strained the hero actually is.This is a chapter from a bigger work that can also be read as a stand alone.

“We missed you, you big baby,” she says, and Alastor laughs wetly, muffled. “You got a lot of explaining to do, but hell, you’re still one of us.”
“Frankly,” Vox says, “if you actually tried to leave, I would lock you up in the basement.”
Valentino sighs affectionately, squeezing Alastor’s hand. “He doesn’t mean that.”
“I very much mean that.”
Alastor wants to say something along the lines of “I would be offended by anything less,” but when he tries to speak, all that comes out, horrifyingly, is a crackly sob. But it just makes Vox’s arms tighten around him, so, whatever. There are worse things.
Or: In a softer timeline, Alastor comes home to the Vees when his seven year sabbatical is up.

Summary
Lucifer is very aware that certain aspects of personal grooming tend to go out the window for him on bad days (or weeks—or months). He does his best to keep up with it—he really does! It's just that the more visible things like his hair and clothes get priority, and by the times he realizes what a disaster his living space has become, or even worse, his wings...
Things were easier when he was living alone and there was nobody else around to notice things like the powder down that he scatters all over the place when he hasn't preened himself properly in too long. At least, they were until someone reaches out a helping hand.
