Summary
The music school AU no-one knew they needed till now!
Éowyn Earl is the star horn player in her year, simultaneously wrestling with the demons of her past, struggling with her current crush on violinist Aragorn Walker, and wondering what to do about the hideous professor Wykeham King who is making everyone’s lives miserable. Meanwhile, in the background, gradually coming into focus, is a very talented pianist, one Faramir Hurin.
A journey through healing, redemption, friendship - and a bit of revenge. Plus a very slow burn relationship. And a love-letter to my favourite orchestral instrument.
Inspired by ElrondScribe's brilliant Silmarillion music school AU.
No resemblance to any actual musicians intended, considerable liberties with my representation of the RNCM. Indeterminate time-frame: a bit like the Manchester of my teens (and its often unfortunate social attitudes); in other respects more up-to-date. The Mancunian rain is entirely accurate, however, and I make no apology for that.
Complete with playlist and epic author's notes.

A Christmas tradition, you ask? Well, since about last Tuesday (to quote Elfhelm’s good lady).
Cinderella, as retold by Rossini and re-retold by me. With Éowyn as Cinders and Faramir as the prince.
Take Rossini's twist, where Cinders and the Prince meet in disguise and fall in love. Plus his addition of a wicked stepfather. Add in a dash of Barber of Seville style evil guardian, a bit of The Horse and his Boy kidnapped-as-a-child type plot device, and a pinch of Twelfth Night style cross-dressing.
Confused? I wouldn’t be doing my job if you weren’t.
Let the Christmas panto mayhem begin.

Summary
So, after almost a decade of writing fanfic, I've decided it's time to take the training wheels off and branch out into original fiction. I have an idea for a series of historical novels set during the reign of James VI of Scotland (and I of England).
But it turns out this original work malarky is not easy, and writing historical fiction is not easy. So I thought I'd unburden myself a bit. Looking for support and advice from people who've trodden this path!
Eventually, I will get book 1 of the Lindsay Chronicles launched.

So, someone wrote a LOTR/ Top Gear cross-over, which was a bit out in left field (in a good way), but started this crack fic plot bunny running. My regular readers will know I can’t resist a crack fic bunny. But even by my standards, this is the crackiest crack fic I’ve ever written. In fact, so cracky it could have been cooked by Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.
So, with profound apologies to fans of both the LOTR and Top Gear, here it is. The missing Top Gear episode no-one knew they needed (and in fact, still aren’t convinced they need).

During their madcap chase across Anorien in pursuit of an absconding Eowyn, Eothain and Elfhelm stopped off at a manor in the north of the province, where Eothain got on rather good terms with the daughter of the household, so much so that she offered him her hankie. Eothain did not realise that this was tantamount to a contract of marriage.
The action picks up on the return journey from the “Twelve Days of Yuletide.”

Summary
In memory of Andre Braugher, one of the finest “straight men” comedy has ever seen. Clearly Holt needs a trip to Middle Earth courtesy of the Valar.
All Holt needs to do to gain a long and happy retirement in Middle Earth is to reassemble his squad from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, or the nearest equivalents Middle Earth has to offer. With Boromir as Peralta and Faramir as Santiago (but without the romance, because that would just be weird because they're brothers in this weird mashup). Denethor is of course… Well, no spoilers, but “it rhymes with lunch.” And of course, given this is a happy crack-fic, “Boromir Lives (TM)”. But who will fill some of the other parts?
Thanks to Katy for the loan of Amarchon. I hope she likes the fact that he had a past, and a bit of love in his life, before he became the crusty old chap we see in “Assassins in the Archives.” Also, with fond regards for a dear friend who is not a Tolkien fan, who parodied his prose style thus: “For too long have my sentence structures been inverted.” My Valar try their best to remember how he wanted them to talk, but every so often they forget.
I wish I could capture Braugher's unique performance - I fear I haven't done him justice.

Because, by an unusual feat of authorial self-restraint and self-discipline, I resisted the temptation to write any of “The Twelve Days of Yuletide” from Éowyn's perspective, as I thought seeing it through the eyes of Elfhelm and Éothain would be so much funnier.
So here is my reward to myself for my self discipline: several thousand words of self-indulgent sheer smut. It’s a long time since I’ve tried to write “pedal to the metal” full-on smut, so I hope I haven’t lost the knack.
