Because the guards that guard his small dark cell, are anything but nice, and they will do anything possible to keep Izuku in his place. Stripped of his quirk, the people he loves, and his own freedom, Izuku has to do whatever possible to survive. Even if it meant breaking the law and maybe even committing the same sin that got him into the situation in the first place.

Summary
All Izuku Midoriya wanted to be was a hero. Upon gaining the tile of All-Might's successor, Izuku is thrown into the world of heroics. But upon the arrival of All For One, All Might's retirement and Izuku's mother, Inko's death, Midoriya disappears. Until two years later, only to be found on the last string of his sanity, his last string of hope, his will to be saved. He's not the same, however. His smile is distorted by pain and suffering, leaving only a sign of danger behind.

Izuku Midoriya doesn't have a quirk. Quirks are things of wonder and awe, destined to make great heroes out of those who master them. Izuku has a curse. A thing. A horror that burnt his skin, ruined his life and filled his head with monsters. His only chance at normality was to suppress the darkness with self-hatred, silence the demons with medication, and focus everything left on the singular goal of maybe one day turning his curse into a force for good.
But can such horror, such darkness, ever be used for good? Or will he eventually fall to shadow and flame?
