The vision shifted, back to shouts and vague forms moving through the sand. Bruno couldn’t even identify who he was looking at or what he was hearing, other than the yelling and crying of his family. The voices blended together, the shouts shaking him to his core, sinking into his bones and threatening to tear him apart. Then, like thunder, Alma’s voice broke through.
“Silence!”Or: a few months after Casita is rebuilt, something strange happens to the Madrigal family miracle. They wake up one morning to find that their Gifts have all been swapped around. But once the magic is restored, how can everyone keep from slipping back into old habits? Mirabel decides another community project is in order. One by one, she convinces the Madrigals to join her in putting on a play--using talents other than their magical gifts.

Summary
The Madrigal Family lost more than the miracle and their gifts the night Casita fell. They lost a part of one of their own, and none of them were sure if they could ever get it back. Mirabel Madrigal sacrificed everything in order to get that candle and protect whatever they had left of the miracle that was dying. Casita tried it's best to protect Mirabel, to get her to that candle and lead her back to safety. But it wasn't enough. Amidst all the rubble of the fallen home laid Mirabel Madrigal, candle in her hands, screaming at the top of her lungs as her legs were crushed under a large piece of the tower that had fell on her. From this moment on, everything changes, and the family doesn't know what to do.
Or:
Mirabel Madrigal loses all feeling in her legs after they get crushed with debris after she went to save the candle when Casita was falling. The Madrigal Family now deals with the pain this causes and has to work with taking care of the now disabled Mirabel that can no longer walk.Bookmarked by Anaya09

"May I?"
Rumi's expression is still in that half-confused state, but she nods. And the moment the frames hit her face, her nose twitches almost as if about to sneeze. She doesn't, obviously, which gives Mira some time to adjust the frames to fit better. More loose hair is pulled away from the face and ears, until the glasses rest snugly against Rumi's face.
Mira steps back to admire her handiwork.
And then, she immediately realizes her mistake.
One, the frames that Rumi chose might have rounded out Mira's appearance, but they also complemented her own sharp angles, carrying a fierceness that was expected. On Rumi's face, the lines melted into the background, and the roundedness of the glasses was on full display. They complimented Rumi's softness and made her look so much more gentle with the glasses on. Paired with Rumi's still somewhat confused look, she looked so adorably cute that Mira might have gone to heaven.
Two, Mira underestimated her own ability to withstand such beauty.
Mira goes shopping for new glasses frames with her girlfriends.
Or: That's it. That's the fic. There's nothing more hiding behind these doors.
