Summary
Tommy isn’t really that much older than Buck, all things considered, but seeing him like this makes all eight of those years stand out. His head is slumped forward, his chin smushed into his chest. He looks like a dad, Buck thinks with a fond smile, falling asleep in his easy chair after a hard day at the office.
And then, with a sudden and vivid yearning vision of what could be: oh, he looks like a dad. Buck imagines Tommy sitting just like this, soft breaths puffing out from between his lips as a baby sleeps curled against his strong chest; their big round cheeks rosy and relaxed, their tiny fingers clutching the fabric of Tommy’s shirt as the baby drifts safe and secure in their father’s arms, soothed by the warmth of his body.

Summary
When Buck's proposal plans get thwarted, he's frustrated and mad, and takes it out on the nearest target - Tommy. Buck knows he's fucking up, but he can't seem to stop.
Tommy's confused about Evan's avoidance and sour moods, and does what he can to make things better. When nothing seems to help, Tommy gets pissy too.
Spoiler alert, they work things out.

Summary
It started like this: Evan Buckley fell in love. He got his heart broken. His sister got kidnapped. His best friend left. He got another chance with his love and broke his heart in return. Bobby died. His family fell apart only to him.
Was this how it was going to end?

Summary
Jee-Yun grows up in the shadow of all the ghosts of all the people who love her. It is not a particularly easy way to grow up, no matter how much they might love her. (Mistakes may not repeat, but sometimes they rhyme.) The village of people raising her do help soften the blow a little, though.
Or: It's Jee's turn for the Buckley Generational Trauma

Summary
Her cruiser reached the red light at the end of the street. Left would carry her back into the city, back into her shift. Right would carry her down into the suburbs, down a little cul-de-sac road where a small, one story white house with a high back porch lay.
She turns right.
“Athena?” Tommy’s holding a dishtowel in his hands, the soap bubbles still clinging to the furred skin of his arms. The porch light picked up the glinting silver of his ring. Athena waited, letting each heartbeat carry her still in this land of the living, even though a large part of her went away last April. Tommy’s face twisted, his jaw tightening as understanding and premature grief flooded his eyes. “...when?”
When Buck is badly injured in the line of duty, Athena gets to know Tommy and finds that they have a lot in common.
