Summary
“I don’t think you understand how much you mean to me. I don’t think you do,” he says between painfully brief inhales and choked out exhales. “And that’s my fault. I know it is.” His vision blurs, chest drawing painfully tighter as Will scrambles to sit up and move closer to Mike’s trembling form.
“Mike…Mike, it’s okay. It’s okay, alright? You need to breathe.” His eyes are frantic as he looks Mike over. His hands hover like he wants to reach out and touch. Mike’s never wanted something so bad in his life but it’s the last thing he deserves.
“It’s not okay. I just-“ and it takes him a few tries to get the words out, nearly choking on a sob that’s fighting so hard to come up. He looks at Will then and has to refrain from slicking his damp hair back where it dangles in front of his pretty eyes. “I need you to know how important you are to me, okay?”

This is a volume 2 rewrite because what was all that?? Somethings are still canon compliant but I’m a Lovers Lake Gate truther. These two deserved sunshine and this is my attempt to give it to them.

“I’ll go with you. I'll be your date.” The words came out before Mike had fully thought them through, but once he said them, he committed. “As friends, you know. I’m sure it’ll be just as fun.”

“I’m sorry Mike, I didn’t mean to.” Will apologizes, closing his eyes, tears streaming down his face. He tries to loosen Mike's grip on his face.
“Will, look at me please.” Mike asks, wiping Will’s tears with his thumb.
Finally Will opens his eyes again, his gaze meeting Mike’s. Mike’s eyes are also glistening with tears.
“Will, I don’t want to be your Tammy, I want to be your Mike.”
