Summary
It's nothing, really- just an innocent comment, a joke. But when they hear it, Nino and Alya come to a realisation.
There were, in retrospect, dozens upon dozens of hints. Now that they're suddenly aware of all their friend's flimsy excuses and rushed explanations, they're not only sure how they've missed it, they're not sure how anyone else has either. They realise that it had to be magic protecting their friends- and that same magic has ceased to work on the two of them.
Well, this means they'll just have to start watching over their friends themselves.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng was born to hold the miraculous—she resonated with every single one of them far better than even the late Celestial Guardian, and it was Fu’s duty as the last Guardian not to allow such talent to slip through his hands.
Too bad Marinette wasn’t on the same page.
Or; au where Master Fu keeps throwing miraculous at Marinette hoping one will stick, Marinette goes around handing out miraculous like candy, and Wayzz has never seen anything so ridiculous in his millennia-long lifespan.

The moment she saw it, she felt like an absolute failure of a mother, as so many horrifying memories of her youth came back to her, and she once more remembered the strong pain as if it was her own. As if she was still there, in her own spiral of darkness, being consumed by too much stress and emptiness, as she wished for relief.
She wouldn’t wish that sensation on her worst enemy, let alone her daughter, knowing how horrifying that addiction was.
