When Audrey breaks up with Chad (well, not really, you have to date in order to break up), the prince finds himself at a loss. He needs to date a princess to make his grandfather happy, but he’d never been with anyone besides Audrey. Cue Evie, who is smart and sweet and talented and seemed to like Chad for some reason, so maybe there was hope for him after all? He wasn’t sure, but he was willing to give it a shot for Evie.

The first time Orion notices something a bit off is when he sees the same panelling around the pelvis on every cybertronian he knows. At first, he chalked it up to plain design - so what, some bots just had rectangles or squares on their lower frames, nothing more; nothing less. But that’s the thing about Orion - always the first one to break protocol - so obviously he's going to get to the bottom (hah) of what that's all about.
i.e. - Orion finds out what interfacing is and decides he wants in on the action.
