Summary
Before Lucy can stop her, Kate reaches for the other half of the peanut butter cup. “It's so tasty,” she says, popping it into her mouth with a contented hum.
Lucy's eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “Did you just eat the whole thing?”
Kate looks down at her empty hands, a surprised laugh escaping her. “Oops. Guess I'm more tired than I thought.” She shakes her head, fatigue evident in her voice. “It’s so good, I couldn't help myself.”
Lucy shakes her head, torn between amusement and concern as she knows Kate has never taken a whole edible before. “Well, buckle up, buttercup. You're in for quite a ride.”

Summary
Kate watches as Lucy crouches down, explaining to Lucky in an exaggerated whisper that this is a “Super special secret treat.” She can't help but laugh, hearing echoes of Noah in Lucy's playful tone.
“Oh my god, Kate. We've created a mini monster!” Lucy exclaims as Lucky dives into his shave ice with unrestrained enthusiasm.
“Hey, it's not my fault he inherited your sweet tooth,” Kate teases, the words bringing back a bittersweet memory of how Noah used to joke about her own love for sweets.
As they settle on a nearby bench to enjoy their shave ice, Kate feels a deep sense of peace.
