    “But Mum.” Dick pleads, “He’s ready! Look at that face. It’s the face of a performer.” Dick clasps the small face in front of him and turns it to his mum. She smiles sympathetically.

    “He wants to. And think about it. Our debut as a full family unit. And I’ve been training him. Really hard.” Dick tries to convince.

    “Next time okay?” the boys’ mother promises.

    The scream that rips from his throat screeches in harmony with his brothers when their parents fall in a bloody heap on the ground. He tries to run to his parents, to help, to be with his brother, to do something. Anything.
    A large hand wraps around his mouth, halting his bolt to his family- or, what’s left of it.
