Summary
“Alright, alright, I’m joking. What I mean is, don’t dwell on the past. You can always come back and meet me. I’ll be happy to see you. But don’t forget that a lot of people care about you. Our family, Tsireya, your ikran, Payakan… Sullies stick together, right? Come on, repeat after me.”
Feeling embarrassed, Lo’ak still repeated it.
“Sullies stick together.”

Summary
Neteyam's chest tightened strangely. It always did whenever he heard his father call Kiri loving names like that. They were sky person titles. He wondered what it would sound like to hear those names directed towards him, but he couldn't even imagine it. Dad would never speak to him like that.
He was simply 'boy.'
Lo'ak was 'boy' too.

Summary
“You’re fucking hurt and you still tried to help me.” Lo’ak finally met his brother’s eyes. “You shouldn’t have done that.”
Neteyam’s face softened, and he reached out to grip both of his shoulders. “That was my decision. Just like everything else was my decision. You don’t get to carry that.”
But in fact Lo’ak was carrying it. He felt the weight of it with every breath. The guilt that had been building since the ship, since the bullet, since the moment he’d pulled Neteyam from the water and felt his brother’s blood warm between his fingers.
OR
Neteyam survives the shot, but Jake still looks at his other son as if it’s his fault. Lo’ak doesn’t survive that he was the reason it happened, and the rifle does its job. He dies.

Summary
The blade is heavier than Neteyam remembers. Or maybe his hands are just weaker now, barely holding on. Truthfully, he can't really tell anymore. Can't tell much of anything surrounding him except the weight of the knife against his palm, the familiar worn grip, and the way Naranawm's light catches on the edge.
Lo'ak died here. So it's a grave.
Surely, it's not necessarily a goodbye, just a see you later.
OR
Lo'ak died instead, and it's making Neteyam hear and see him in everything associated with his baby brother.

Summary
The rain swallowed his voice. The river didn't answer. No hand reaching back. Just Lo'ak, held back by hands that wouldn't let go, screaming into a storm that didn't care. Neteyam was gone. The water swallowed him whole.
His throat tightened. His heart felt like broken glass. She seemed to understand. Her hand moved from his head to his shoulder, squeezing once. "He is not lost to the Great Mother. Wherever he is, She sees him."
It should have been comforting, yet it wasn't. Because if Eywa could see Neteyam, why couldn't Lo'ak?
OR
Neteyam gets adopted by Tonowari and Ronal as part of the Metkayina, and Lo'ak tries to cope with the guilt of being the reason his brother drowned. It's canon divergent but will eventually intersect with the original Avatar 2 plot, where the siblings confide in each other under the feeling of being different.

Nothing changes, and Neteyam dies. And dies, and dies, and dies.
Is this his punishment? Is this Lo’ak’s penitence for causing his brother's death, for killing Neteyam like his dad always said he would?
“Eywa,” he begs, “what is happening to me?”
Silence answers him.or,
Neteyam can't stop dying, and Lo'ak can't stop waking up that morning to save him.
