She isn’t supposed to quietly watch people, only responding to questions if she feels like it. She isn’t supposed to be difficult to read unless she is angry. She isn’t supposed to make the temperature drop several degrees upon entering a classroom. She is supposed to be a swotty, bushy-haired, skinny, book-obsessed, grade-chasing, overemotional, desperate little people-pleaser. That’s what everyone expects. That’s what everyone wants. It doesn’t matter that she’s been through a war, had likely carried her two Gryffindor parasites through every battle, had been the most wanted Muggleborn in Britain. Everyone wants Hermione Granger in a box and now they are shocked and irate to find she no longer fits.
Or... Hermione Granger returns for 8th Year at Hogwarts, is forced to re-sort into Slytherin, and turns everyone's lives upside down.
