Summary
To be touched is to be known. Hands worn and scarred from rough use are rougher still against his flesh. They are gentle, lingering caresses stroking from face to neck to shoulders, long and slow, the draw of the tides in Wriothesley’s fingertips, warm tidal pool water washing over him. He can breathe in the water but not beneath Wriothesley’s hands, though breathing is secondary to how Wriothesley’s hands feel him, shape him.
He is known.
For Neuvillette, to be touched is to be known.

Summary
Warmth. Comfort. The reassurance of a lover’s presence, of their touch. Neuvillette sinks into his beloved’s embrace, and Wriothesley’s arms tighten around him as he buries his nose into Neuvillette’s hair. Long minutes pass, but in each others’ arms, time freezes. Neuvillette could stay here forever, encapsulated in their own world.

Summary
But, oh, how something in Neuvillette’s ribcage ached, each time he imagined what sly comment Wriothesley might have made, or recalled that raise of his eyebrow that indicated his particular touch of mischief. It was bad enough in the daytime; then, Neuvillette could distract himself with the flow of work. Thrown to the mercy of the night, however, he was swept away on a tide of new longing, the absence of his lover’s touch a near-physical pain that nothing could alleviate.
On those nights he could not sleep, Neuvillette went to the sea.

Summary
Neuvillette still hangs onto his clothing, not letting go. “Sweetheart,” says Wriothesley with a chuckle. “Don’t you need to turn in?”
“A little more,” says Neuvillette, already leaning back in for another kiss. “Just a little more, Wriothesley, and then I’ll let you go.”
A little more turns into a lot more. Neuvillette keeps a tight grip on Wriothesley as they kiss on his stoop.
Neuvillette and Wriothesley find it hard to part ways after a date.

Summary
“I am here to collect Wriothesley.” For now, he will play her damned game. “The rules?”
Furina holds up three fingers. “For you, Monsieur Neuvillette, I have three trials and only one rule, which is that you cannot attack me directly. How you choose to win these trials is up to you. You are a clever man, and I’m sure that you will need clever answers to win your little knightling back.”
Neuvillette turns to Furina, stiff-backed and severe, and replies, “Then let the games begin.”
Furina, Sorceress of the Underwater, kidnaps the Hydro Sovereign's Mate as a game. Written for Chronologie, a Neuvithesley Anthology.
