Summary
When the man she was set to marry ends up meeting an unfortunate end two weeks before their impending nuptials, Hermione has to grapple with her place in society while keeping her secrets close to the vest. As the two navigate running an estate all while trying to discover exactly what happened to lead to Lucius's death, they will have to work together to uncover a murderer and thwart them from striking again.
TLDR: Hermione is unmarried and unexpectedly pregnant when her fiancé dies in an "accident". Severus is set to inherit. They have to work together to find what happened before the murderer strikes again.

He knew that Hermione would have said in complete honesty that she was okay. She was handling things, keeping it together, taking care of business. Every day she chalked up a day that she had coped with and lived through.
Sam, though, saw a pattern, one he knew well, and he could sense that there was a reversal coming. Not in clear terms, not in specific outcomes or details, but he knew perfectly that she was not being who she was and that such couldn't last forever.
