Being best friends with someone for practically all of your life means that, inevitably, you will share more experiences with them than you are entirely comfortable with.
As applied to Kaoru and Kojiro, this means that they have a rather long list of topics that are summarily off-limits, even from each other. Things that hadn’t even required a spoken word for them to agree that yeah, we’re never bringing this up again.

"We heard that you're on your honeymoon!" The waiter with the drinks announces, loud enough that several tables around them can hear. "We just wanted to give our congratulations to the newlyweds. I hope you enjoy your drinks!"
Kaoru and Kojiro lie about being on their honeymoon to get an upgrade on their cruise, and have to face the consequences.

He pushes Kaoru through the door first and pulls it shut behind him, expecting a room. Instead, he runs right into Kaoru. The faint purple glow coming off Carla lights up the storage closet that they’ve found themselves in. It’s empty, but it’s cramped. Kojiro is pressed up against Kaoru, chest to chest.
“Shit.”
A police patrol at S leads to Kojiro and Kaoru confronting things that they've been tiptoeing around for months.
