His name was Tommy Innes, and he was born to touch the stars.
Of course, touching the stars was going to have to wait, because he'd lost that dream the moment his parents had died when he was ten years old—the moment he had watched that starship explosion and felt a bit of his heart die with them. He'd lost that dream when he was transported to prison and then to a place called Pogtopia.
He'd lost that dream when he watched hundreds of children starve on the streets of Pogtopia. When he and two friends become the lone survivors of the Red Planet's Genocide. When they were rescued, and he was captured again.
But maybe—maybe one day, he would regain that dream. Maybe he would hunt down the mass murderer that had executed his friends and gain his revenge—but that day was not now, and now he sat in a prison and stared at the faraway stars.
Perhaps there would be people that he could call family again. People he would see again—people whom he had lost years ago. One day.
Because he was an Avian, born to be forever alone amongst broken stars.
And Avians did not fall unless they wanted to.

The entire ship changed.
Ever since learning I could communicate, Blue has made sure all my needs are met. I asked him for a blanket the first day before they sent me back to my cell, mentioning the cold temperature. He went to his room and brought me the fluffiest blanket I've ever seen. I thanked him and then had to explain what smiling meant for humans.~
TL;DR: Tommy can now talk to the aliens holding him, and he's going to make sure they regret it. except, they all have forgotten one small thing: introductions.

In the long list of rules that Dream gave him, there were four that stuck out as the most important. Four rules that he could never break.
Stick close to the island when swimming. Always be back before seven. Never complain or hesitate to give Dream his pelt. And never, ever interact with humans.
Tommy didn’t break any of those rules often, and if he did it was a one time thing, a mistake. But this wasn’t a mistake. This was a very deliberate, very stupid move on his part and Dream would kill him if he knew what Tommy was doing. Fifteen years Tommy had lived here, and never once had he intentionally broken one of Dream’s rules. Until now.
He swims closer to the three humans.
