“Goodnight, Dad!”
“Goodnight, duckling!” His smile dropped when the door clicked shut. Closed his eyes. Counted to ten. It wouldn’t do to blow a hole in the hotel they just finished. He’s spent too much of his life blowing up shit just because he could fix it afterwards. As if there were no consequences to being a giant rage monster just because nothing stayed broken. It’s a problem he got under wraps a few thousand years ago, but few things challenge his control like Charlie, her safety, their lack of relationship. But, no, this wasn’t about that; It was about that asshole being to chickenshit to go to the top and instead bothering little girls with too much on their plate.

It's strange for Lucifer to wander back into Hellish society after centuries of isolation. There was a reason he left, a reason he no longer even tried. But Charlie had a plan. Who knew if it was even going to work, but there was no way in Hell he was going to let her stick it to Heaven without help.

It’s kind of crazy how a singular three letter word can make you stop dead in your tracks. King of hell he might be, but the careful and frightened voice of his daughter will never fail to freeze him. Sure, it could be considered a bit of a coward move, but he can't convince himself to care. There are situations where being afraid to move your body even a fraction is justifiable. Like this one, for example.
