(Or anyone else.)
The romance thread is really just medicine for the writer's state of mind and a little treat for readers.

Summary
Roy Mustang goes out to investigate an explosion, and what he finds is himself. Specifically, his seventeen year old self, shaken and terrified and somehow jumped forwards in time by twelve whole years. How time-travel is even possible evades him, but he knows they need to find a way to send the younger version of Roy back to his own time.
Edward joins the efforts, lending his mind to the problem - but what Ed finds is a sweet kid so in touch with his emotions that he cries all the time and stands up for what's right even at great danger to himself. In other words, the complete opposite of the Bastard Colonel.
As they all work together to send Roy back to the past they inevitably become closer, what starts as friendship turns to more, and questions about who Colonel Mustang is finally let Ed see his CO in a new light.

As far as bad ideas go, Ezreal isn’t sure if this is the best bad idea he ever had or the worst.
The idea on its own is not bad, it’s just that Ezreal’s options are quite limited. Currently, he faces two clear options:
(1.) He can go to his ex’s birthday party and be a mature adult that doesn’t mind showing up single.
Or, (2.) He can ask Kayn to pose as his boyfriend for one night.
One of those options is clearly worse than the other, but Ezreal for sure cannot pinpoint which one exactly is the bad one.

He saw the tips of his fingers collide with the edge of his alchemy circle, the light and the familiar hum of energy slowly building underneath them. The array was going to take a few seconds to activate, he gathered, and so he crossed their remaining distance easily. “Place your hand on mine; just for a moment. Then you can go, okay?”
And then, he’s enveloped in the darkness of space neither here nor there and ripped from his consciousness, and when he comes to, it's 1906.
