As simple as that. Obi-Wan has always made it sound as simple as that: Cody wants something, he asks, he gets it. It’s a marvel, based on faulty logic: clones are not allowed to want, are not allowed to ask. They don’t get to have things. Not really.
Cody's partner comes home to him, and he comes home with the face of his own killer. It makes reaquainting themselves with each other...a process.

Obi-Wan swallows hard, glancing back over his shoulder. Pull and Minut are doing a wonderful job of not staring at their commanding officers, although Obi-Wan can tell via the Force that they’re aware of the tension at the front of the escape pod. He shudders, stomach cramping, as he feels another wave of lights wink out – only two or three more, a last shot from a parting vulture droid tearing open a capsule. He swallows again, against the bile, shoulders trembling. Cody’s gloved hand comes down firmly, high on his thigh, and Obi-Wan’s commander rumbles low in his ear, “Let me help, cyare. Don’t make me watch you hurting.”
Obi-Wan experiences certain...reactions to loss, an unpleasant feature of his Stewjoni biology. As always, his valiant commander is there to help him through.

When Crosshair digs himself out of the snow, colder than he’s ever been – colder than 32 nights shivering on Kamino’s stormy, wrecked surface with almost no shelter, colder even than the mission to Kijimi during the war that iced over his scope and nearly took a few of Hunter’s fingers and did crack Tech’s lenses when he dinged the frames – the thrumming in his chest is frantic, but it isn’t about his own survival. Which is a novel feeling, these days.
Mayday survives the avalanche on Barton IV. Which means Crosshair has a decision to make.

It is blaster shots and no, General and get the traitor and yes, my lord – it is a lightsaber pressed into Obi-Wan’s hand like a gift, a promise, the only oath the sunrise is allowed to make, before a comm and an order and a chill and a blast him, falling endlessly.
Obi-Wan receives a Force vision a few minutes before Sidious sets the galaxy on fire. He can't save everyone. He might not even save himself. But he'll be damned if he doesn't save Cody.

When he shoots out the connector, he has already considered and discarded every other even remotely viable plan for having unacceptable success rates. Tech is skilled at calculating odds: there is no option where Tech’s survival is not traded for a minimum of one of the others, and most likely all of them, Tech included in the attempt. Tech is a solider, and a brother. The good of his squad and the safety of his family are both of far higher consequence than Tech’s individual opportunity for life. Battlerush means he has the opportunity to think all these things, calmly and rationally, and with a degree of acceptance that is heavy in his gut, but surprisingly light in his chest.
It also means that when Tech falls, he falls for a very long time.

Requisitioning medical supplies is never easy, but these past couple weeks have made Rex even more acutely aware of just how easy it should be, how irritating is it that it’s not. They’ve been doing hyperlane patrol, thank the stars, so it’s not life or death for the first time in a while, but none of the clones under his command like to see their Padawan Commander in pain. It’s been grating on Rex’s every protective instinct, hearing the subvocal whine the young Togruta has been trying and failing to suppress for the last several days.

Summary
Cody is shaking, terrified and confused and in pain he does not understand. Something is wrong, burning hot and feverish inside him, clawing him up from the inside out with need. Obi-Wan manages to school his gasp, manages to merely fist Cody’s hand underneath his own where it’s pressed against his thigh, sucking in his own sharp breath of horror and confusion because Cody is burning, Cody is desperate, and he doesn’t understand what’s happening to him, but Obi-Wan realizes with pure utter shock what it looks like.
But Cody is human. So Obi-Wan has to be wrong.
A diplomatic mission with a rigid alien culture requires Obi-Wan to go off his pheromone suppressants. Much to his surprise, this affects his Commander far more than it affects him. Convenient, then, that Obi-Wan has already been bedding him for the better part of a year.

The hum of the ship in the quiet of space was enough to make Cody wish he’d turned down General Kenobi’s generous offer; Cody was used to living with hundreds, if not thousands or even hundreds of thousands of his brothers underfoot at any given time, and by comparison, the near-silence of two people, tucked into a ship meant for a crew of five at the utmost was enough to have Cody vibrating out of his skin. He didn’t weather ‘quiet’ well. Quiet was when your guard was down, was when the clankers – or before them the longnecks and their more sadistic shabuir trainers – could slip past your defenses and take down a company faster than you could say dank farrik.

He wants to swallow it whole, to live in it forever. “I know I’ve done it on purpose before,” K adds in a mumble, “but this time I swear it wasn’t.”
