It was Jimmy’s turn to stiffen, and Thomas took a breath, expecting this to be the moment Jimmy, beautiful, hard headed Jimmy, realised quite what sharing a bedroom with Thomas might actually entail.
“No, Mr Carson. I am not comfortable sharing a room with a man of Mr Barrow’s sort. I am comfortable sharing a room with Mr Barrow. I wouldn’t’a suggested it, otherwise.”

The attic roof needs to be repaired, and Jimmy volunteers to share Thomas' room whilst the work is completed. Why wouldn't two best mates share a room together?

Summary
He’s on his feet before he’s even had a chance to think about it, fag tossed carelessly out the window. Heart in his throat, unable to keep himself from picturing the worst — Edward collapsed in the tub, blood stained tile — he skids to a stop in the doorway, just in time to keep himself from calling out as he realizes he’d misunderstood the noise he heard quite badly.
Edward is not prone, not bleeding, not anything of the sort. Rather, he has things well in hand indeed, leaning forward under the spray, one arm braced against the wall before him while the other works steadily between his legs. Thomas covers his mouth like a maid at the sight, equally terrified he might make a sound and amused at his own dramatics; neither enough to distract from the heat that bubbles under his skin and pools in the pit of his stomach. How long has it been since he’s been touched? How long has it been for the Lieutenant?
Edward is convalescing at the Abbey with the other soldiers, but he takes his showers alone, once the others have gone to bed. Thomas waits for him outside, but rushes in to find something quite different when he thinks he's heard him slip.

“I…I got this thing.”
“A thing?”
Jimmy nods.
“Alright, go on.”
“It’s for — for usin’. On yourself — or, well, I got it for usin’ on meself. ‘S not actually what it’s for, an’ now it’s…stuck.”
“Stuck?” Thomas coaxes, still looking rather bewildered. Jimmy wants to die, and his face is already so hot, heart pounding so hard against his ribs, he half expects the universe to grant his wish over putting him through this ordeal.
“Up me,” Jimmy grinds out, jaw aching.
Jimmy gets a toy stuck inside of himself. Rather conveniently, Thomas is the only one with any medical know-how in the house, so he has no choice but to go to him for help. (A.k.a. Thomas sticks his fingers up Jimmy's arse out of the goodness of his heart.)
