“A song.” Sayeon doesn’t sound disbelieving, just quietly surprised, like she hadn’t expected Ryujin to answer at all.
“Yeah,” Ryujin drawls, dragging the words like she’s reading from a textbook. “A song. You know, the thing with the notes and—” She flicks her wrist, dismissive. “Whatever. Stuck in my head like a goddamn splinter.”
The mug pauses halfway to the windowsill. Just for a second, like Sayeon’s turning the words over, testing their weight. Then it settles with a soft click, safely out of reach.
“Then play it.” -

About fifteen years after the King’s curse, the gang meets up at Odile’s home in Ka Bue. They’ve all been there multiple times but this time Odile has something important to show them. After all, familytales are supposed to be shared with your family.

“You’re supposed to ask first, goddamnit,” she snaps but the sting of her words is offset by the red in her ears. “And you ruined my fucking cigarette.”
“Sorry,” Sayeon replies with no real sincerity. “You didn’t say you hated it though.”
“I didn’t say that I hated what?” Ryujin spits back and Sayeon feels that same heat unfurl in her stomach.
“Kissing me,” she replies monotonically, like she’s reciting her times tables.

Summary
Glasses sleeps like a fucking robot because of course she does. Her hands are still at her side, bent at a perfect 180° angle and Ryujin’s not fully convinced that if she popped open her chest, there’d be a beating heart there instead of a AA battery.
It’s only the subtle rise and fall of her chest as Min does 80 on the freeway that keeps her sane. Up and down and up again. It’s horribly methodical but it’s something–and something means that she’s still alive.
