Finally back with her very much alive mom, Chloe finds herself talking all about her newfound friend Red and their adventures to her mother a few days before the semester starts. She also learns about parallels between fairytales and how they, scarily enough, apply to her and Red.
On the other hand, Red continues to try to adjust to her much kinder mother and feelings for a specific blueheaded girl who suddenly seems hellbent on avoiding her.
