in the dark of the room, everything is allowed. under the influence, everything is allowed. then, barty doesn't have to worry. he kisses evan like he really means it, because he does, even when he cannot get it past his lips the morning after. evan indulges in him anyway. and maybe that gentleness is exactly what barty needs.

“What?”, Will huffs, shaking his head in disbelief. “You know blue does not only equate sadness, right? It is one of the blatantly obvious meanings, sure, but it can also imply tranquility, loyalty, trust, peace, and—"
Shut up, shut up, shut up, the voice in his head screams by now, but one cannot interrupt Will in the middle of one of his art rants. Impossible. No chance. “And with the vastness of the sky or sea, blue is also often associated with distance, longing, yearning, and— stuff.”
“Distance”, Mike echoes, and only then does Will truly understand what he has just admitted into the air freely, completely unprovoked and voluntarily. “Longing. Yearning.”
Obviously, this is the exact moment Robert Smith decides to sing about the fact that it is Friday, and that he is very much in love.
Five times Mike distracts Will from his art assignments with his stupidly flirtatious ways, and one time Will actually needs his help to complete a coursework.

“Well,” Mike shrugs, swallowing hard in a desperate attempt to soothe his very, very dry mouth, “I don’t know why someone wouldn’t be interested in you.”
“Oh?” Will says, and it’s definitely teasing now, enough for Mike to feel himself turning warm, all down his neck and to the tips of his own – sadly unpatterned – socks. “Someone?”
“Yeah.” Mike nods. Oh, god. This is fine. “In a very arbitrary sense of the word. Just– people. Someone.”
Mike is approximately ninety-eight percent sure that his feelings are requited. That last two percent, however, has really been throwing him for a loop.

"Car guys are really stingy with their cars," Will explains. "they don't really let others drive them. I just assumed you'd freak out if I even sat behind the wheel."
"Hm, well," Mike begins. "for starters, I like you and trust you more than any of the other idiots we work with."
Will's heart feels as though it completely sunk to his gut, before the beating starts picking up again, very frantic. "Really?" He manages to get out, while it feels like he's going to choke on the thick air.
"Well, yeah?" Mike raises a brow. "You're the only one I'd actually get in trouble for. I like hanging with you, and I think you do too, even though sometimes you act like you hate me."

“Hi,” Will blurts out before he can stop himself, and he can feel his cheeks heat up in embarrassment so quickly it must be unhealthy somehow. “Uh -“
The guy shuts his phone off and reaches up to his ear to pull out an earbud. He shoots Will a grin, which does not help the whole blushing-crimson thing. “Hey,” he says coolly, and Will admires his composure while he wills the earth to collapse beneath him.
The guy quirks an eyebrow at Will when he doesn’t look away, then seems to take in his slightly disheveled and paint-stained appearance - he’d had his painting and drawing class just before he’d gone home, and had managed, as he always does, to get paint everywhere - because his smile grows a little softer, a little fonder. His shoulders relax against the bench, and Will lets out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. “You get sexiled?”

Summary
Mike Wheeler has never been lucky. So, when he finally finds an affordable house near campus for his last year of university—one that isn’t outrageously expensive—he briefly entertains the idea that maybe the universe has finally decided to leave him alone for once.
It hasn’t.
Because, of course, the landlord conveniently “forgot” to mention that Mike would be living right next door to a frat house.
A goddamn frat house. A loud, obnoxious, party-every-night frat house.
Yeah. The universe hates Mike Wheeler.
Or: Mike just wants his final year at university to be quiet. Normal. Uneventful. Which is, apparently, too much to ask for. Instead, the Sigma Chis move in, ruin his peace, and prove once and for all that the universe is, in fact, still out to get him.
Especially when one of the frat brothers is infuriatingly way too attractive and won’t stop existing within Mike’s line of sight—or his goddamn mind.
Mike blames the universe.
Again.
