Summary
a cold rush of wind flushes your features. technically, it was summer, but the blush of the season had yet to break through the bitter cold. as it was, the spring blizzard season was just barely over. the moon rises high in the sky, the world silent beneath its solemn gaze.
dark cacao turns to face you, his deep fuchsia eyes weary and dragged down by the bags under his eyes. he looks more and more exhausted as the days pass, a different frown etched into his features. your fingers curl into your palm, no nails to dig into the flesh.
"what was it like, before the breach?" he asks softly, almost akin to a whisper.
your brows furrow together, your mouth hanging agape. "pardon?"
"the way of life, in the kingdom. before the walls fell," he says slightly louder, though still low like a child holding back tears. your heart spurs in your chest, tattooing itself across your ribs.
"i–" you splutter. his face is desperation, and–
"please."
