Summary

The Hahren had explained to them that it was to remember the Long Walk from Tevinter, when the people had been slaves, and then had freed themselves with Shartan as their leader, and had allied with the human prophet Andraste, who had promised them a home in the Dales for their aid.
“And so,” he said, “We remember on this shortest day and the longest night the Long Walk of the People. The Long Walk was hard, and the People struggled greatly, but there was joy in their hearts as they wandered, for they were free. As the People are free now. We remember how the people left with nothing on their backs by taking care of the things that we have, we remember their hunger and struggle through these humble foods, or by fasting.”
She had always loved this story of the People, hugged her stuffed druffalo closer and watched, intent as he spoke. This story had been one of hope, that the people had struggled, and together they had made a home.

As she grows to know him as Solas, she discovers that the Creators are not the benevolent deities she believed them to be, and that the Dread Wolf is a man she can love.
What comfort can a mere Dalish mage offer a rebel god? More than either of them ever expected.
