She doesn't believe in destiny or fate. Everything happens for a reason, even if that reason cannot be explained. As a child, she knew Peter Parker. They were friends, and then they weren't. He was her childhood crush—a passing phase. Life just gets in between people before they can ever really get to know each other, and that's okay. But when tragedy strikes and she finds herself blessed (or cursed) with superpowers, she discovers that perhaps life has a way of bringing people together, too.
