- Wilbur unapologetically barges into his life to prevent him from killing himself
- they take the train together every Tuesday night
- Tommy buys a new pin each week from jacks store, Jack of all trades
- Wilbur guides Tommy into repairing his relationships with his friends and his brother
- once Tommy says he no longer wants to kill himself wilbur disappears
- later Tommy finds out that Wilbur has been dead for a year, suicide on the subway
- Tommy grieves and visits wilburs grave to find closure -
