Summary
My Sherwood Forest sat on the edge of a rock quarry in Springfield, Missouri, between a medical prison and "the Holler" where the neighbors cooked meth. In the summer of 1980, while the world swore in Reagan and mourned the loss of Lennon, I was climbing the 80 foot cliffs at the edge of the neighbor's yard.
This is a story about a kid with a book in his hand and choices to make. Prison or retail, the church or sin, where to walk, and when to run.
I usually chose poorly.
