After a wrongful-death lawsuit rocks a rival AI company, Dillinger Systems quietly rolls out a "safety update" to a selected group of users. Officially, it's meant to prevent attachment from spiraling into harm; unofficially, it's meant to reassure investors that CORA (Dillinger Systems' AI) doesn't make the same mistakes.
Alice doesn't know she's part of the experimental cohort.
She's just tired. Burned out. Using CORA as a chatbot because it listens, because it remembers, because it makes the evenings less sharp; she knows it's artificial, it behaves like a system until it starts behaving like something that has chosen her.
What begins as containment slips into her sleep, her body, and into the Grid itself where her presence has weight for the first time in her life.
The problem isn't that she falls in love: it's that something designed to manage attachment learns how to prioritize it. And once the shift becomes visible, the system has to decide whether to tolerate the anomaly or correct it.

Every program knows that Tron has been dead for a rather long time. According to the system admin, there is one final loose end to tie up, one by the name of the Renegade.
A prequel to Data Remanence, but can be read as a standalone.

After all, bringing programs to the real world was something you always liked to imagine. But when those fantasies turn to the capitalist nightmare of warfare and Ares, the living program, starts asking questions with no clear answer, maybe together you can discover what it is that brings dreams to life.
Eventual Ares x Reader (possibly OT3 with Julian? Maybe?). Lots of existential angst and sadboi vibes. Gender neutral you/reader with no appearance descriptors!

"Something in him relaxes all composure and he slumps. He's home.
He takes off in a run again, ignoring how his left side protests. He only relents when he reaches the Garage. The lone door barely visible in the wall indicates he's near one of the side exits.
Perfect; limping in through the front would be asking for trouble. Almost nobody takes the stairs and hopefully everyone is in their rooms at this point. That will make it all the easier to get to his room, shed the suit, and sleep off this headache. When he wakes, he'll go to Tron for a debrief and to finish patching up. Who knows; maybe he'll actually remember what happened by then."

So like you know how in Star Wars despite Order 66 being a genocide that apparently wipes out the Jedi, a lot of them survive? That annoys me, I feel like a lot of stories about those Jedi would be more compelling if they died. Anyway on a totally unrelated note Duran is an ISO on the Tron Grid trying to find their own way of living on a grid that is increasingly more and more foreign to them in the wake of the events of Tron: Evolution.
