Markus made a face like he was debating taking another drink of the suspect coffee, before rolling his eyes and pushing the mug to the other side of the desk in semi-disgusted defeat. “No one names their kid Thog, Aesling. It’s probably some dumb nickname someone came up with because his parents named him something stupid.”

Markus knew Thog wasn’t over-worldly in anyway, but when he sneezed, it felt like the heavens themselves threatened to crash down. Somehow Markus forgot this fact in between Thog getting sick because if he did remember, he’d have the bar covered in pillows 24/7 just in case, or at least have one at hand because falling off his chairs from the power of Thog’s sneezes got old real quick.
“Gods above, are you sure you aren’t sick?” Markus asked, hauling himself back on the bar stool.
Thog pulled out his handkerchief, blowing his nose. “Yeah, I’m sure.”

Markus doesn’t try and speak again. That’s pretty impressive because Markus always wants to speak again, so Gregor thinks he must be holding back for him. He appreciates the break, it gives him a chance to get his thoughts back into the right formation, they’d gotten all out of line

Markus has counters to what he expects, ways to get through to the other man and let him know it’s okay not to be sunny-happy Gregor all the time. What he gets is not at all what he expects, and all his contingency plans go right out the window."
Gregor finally gets some things he sorely needs, and a few things he dearly wants. Notably a good cry, a warm bed, and a damn hug. Feat. Markus being ridiculously soft for his friends, Mercedes' amazing parenting, and a good helping of romance because I am a sap.
