This AU story reimagines the characters and world of Stranger Things where Eleven never had powers, never got forced to open the Upside Down and never had to banish Henry to Dimension X. Mike Wheeler and Jane Ives have been the best of friends all their lives, but have recently started to drift apart. Mike's bitter and upset with Jane, Jane wishes Mike would just talk to her. Once, Jane and her best friend Sara Hopper had been part of the Party but ever since they became part of Jennifer Hayes' circle of friends they've since stopped hanging out with the boys.
It's no longer the story you all know. Even if sometimes the events you know and love still transpire. -

When Steve left Montana he promised himself he wouldn't return unless someone died-- happy to leave that world behind him. He thought he'd have several decades before he was dragged back to the ranch he used to call home. But Sara died. His big sister-- bringing him back to the family.
His family was far from traditional. It wasn't any wonder that it took one of them dying in a freak accident to get them all in the same place again. If that wasn't distressing enough, it became clear Steve's father would need more help with Sara being gone, forcing him to stick around longer.

I feel a gentle squeeze, an attempt at comfort in such a harrowing moment; I cant help but pray, please not me, not Jane, not Mike. Her thick boots echo as she crosses the wooden stage to that sinful clear bowl. That bowl that carries the name of my loved ones and my own. My name is in their eighteen times, Jane's eleven and Mike's the normal five; If anyone were to be spared I am grateful it'd be him. Time slows as those manicured fingers caress the paper slips pulling out the first name.
