Summary
“You are the will of the people who inhabit this world,” Severea says. “I am the creator of those people, and they follow my objectives more readily than even their own. It’s hardly surprising that you, too, have come to follow me.”
“No.”
Severea startles; it is a welcome change. “No?”
“No,” Galenica repeats. “I am not controlled by you. I am here of my own volition, to carry out my own objective. That of protection, and security.”
“I see.”

Summary
In that spirit, I will end with a tale that I hold close to my own heart, one of simple and small joys. It was told to me by a traveler I met by chance in a snowstorm, a broad and boisterous man who laughed often, and seemed to grow in its telling. There are enough stories of Samot and Samothes’ first meeting to fill a thousand thousand books; this one, however, is the truth I choose to take above all others.

Summary
As Samothes crept closer, the wolf tilted its head and then shifted. For a moment, it was Severia sitting there, gazing at herself in the water. And then she flickered, and there stood a pale figure Samothes recognized as one of the people from his city. And then in another beat of Samothes' heart, a young man with golden blonde hair cascading down his back knelt beside the lake instead, a wolfskin cloak wrapped around his shoulders.

Summary
When they tell Samol, he laughs hard enough to shake the trees.
"Oh, boys," he says, holding Maelgwyn in his arms. "What have you gotten yourselves into now?"
