If you would have asked Derek what he would be doing six months from now, he would have assumed he would be on the top of his game and taking names across the west coast in men's lacrosse. I mean, that's the only reason he was in California. It's the only way he was able to go to college. He never would have guessed that he would get a concussion be out for the season, let alone forever. He wouldn't have guessed he wouldn't be able to think or read properly.
