Dean’s enjoying his life. He’s finally going to become head baker and manager of his bakery, Glazed and Confused; he and Sam are getting along with their half-brother Adam, and his Baby is running just fine.
However, after accidentally missing an interview with local radio station Sweet Heaven, Dean's business is at risk once show host Emmanuel starts to question Dean’s character on-air. Even worse, every time Dean tries to call and apologize, the two end up bickering instead, and their arguments are always broadcasted by the station’s annoying owner, Gabriel, in an attempt to boost ratings (or simply because he's a dick).
Between managing his business, publicly arguing with the stubborn and frustrating Emmanuel, and dealing with his developing feelings for the charming blue-eyed Castiel that he meets at Adam’s engagement dinner, Dean’s life could not get more complicated.

Widower Alpha Dean Winchester is pretty content these days. Sure, he’s had ups and downs, but now he’s the Fire Chief of a (small) Fire Department for a whole-ass town. His Alpha brother Sam is the Chief of Paramedic Services. Between them, they oversee a program for weed control designed to reduce risk to civilians and also to fire department personnel.
Despite the machinations of Beta Mayor Chuck Shurley, everything is copacetic in the small town of Golden Rule, until Dean catches a whiff of an unusual scent combo that leaves him drooling. The fact that the scent belongs to another Alpha (at least, Cas–the goat guy–looks like an Alpha) doesn’t bother him in the slightest. And since Cas is planning to apply for the weed control contract–with his herd of goats!–Dean hopes to get to know him better. A lot better.
But fate, or Chuck, brings Dick Roman into the picture. Old secrets and griefs are dug up, and new grief looms on the horizon for Dean and Cas and the traveling goats. When Cas is poisoned, help comes from unexpected quarters, and Dean and Cas both face life-altering choices.
