Will’s eyes were inevitably dragged to it, like a magnetic force he didn’t prepare for when he agreed to come there. His sight raised up again, eyes automatically looking for every single feature he memorized years ago and finding every detail right where he thought it would be.
His organs all dropped at once, leaving him with the hard choice on what to say, what to do and what to look at next. It took every single piece of him to hold him back from hugging his best friend right there and forget about everything else.

He steps in front.
A shot reverberates through the clearing, and he flinches. Nobody breathes. You could cut the quiet with a fucking butterknife. Eddie releases a shuddering breath and pats down his chest, hands shaking so bad that he probably wouldn’t feel it even if he were hit. He falls to his knees when they come back clean.
Nancy stands there, gun jerked high with wide eyes. She pants, swallowing thickly before fury breaks her calm. “Eddie?! What the hell are you doing-!”
“IT’S STEVE!!” Eddie shouts. His arms shake as the Demowolf bleeds sluggishly behind him. “IT’S STEVE! IT’S STEVE GODDAMN'T!!”

It all started with one, single comment. "Will you're, like, not really into dating right?" It was just an innocent question. But everyone knew better to keep it unspoken. Will's head snapped up to look at Max. The basement was cast in a dim light, everyone tucked into blankets amid discarded character sheets and loose dice. The air was already thick enough with low hazy smoke, courtesy of a joint liberated from Eddie's pocket before the game. But as he caught her eye from across the room, the air became heavier, almost choking. The entire room was staring at him.
((I really just CAN'T keep away from boys named Will, can I? Anyway, watched all of Stranger Things for the first time in like a week. And, like, damn, I was really missing out, huh? I wasn't a big fan of Mike initially but, my god, Finn Wolfhard is gorgeous for absolutely no reason. Imagine my distress when I found out that the series isn't all the way out yet. I don't WANT to wait a week for it to come out. I want it out NOW. A travesty, honestly.
