Percy Jackson's existence is an unnatural thing. In the grand order of things, he is an anomaly. Forces of nature are not meant to bear mortal children. It is not correct, it is not natural.
Poseidon is meant to father monsters and cataclysms. Creatures finned and scaled, hooved and clawed, Gods made of current and wave. Not a soft squishy thing made of blood and bone.Posiedon and Hades and Zeus, unlike their siblings, do not often have children. Not for lack of trysts but because it is supposed to be an impossibility.
And then one day the Fates demanded an Era of Unnatural Children. And The Sea, Earth, And Sky disobeyed. But of course, rebelling against fate only brings you closer to it.Even so, Poseidon is determined to hide his son away from the cruel destiny the fates have weaved for him.
