Helplessness didn't truly describe their situation.
What she felt was more akin to the animalistic, cornered baring of teeth, halfhearted and slowly losing edge.She could feel herself slipping. Jax had warned her about this, he gave her every horror story of those who came before her, those with their pictures crossed out on their doors.
But what else could she do? She was trapped in a godamn virtual reality game, with no way of getting out and no way of remembering what it was like before.
Until she does start to remember. Until she suddenly sleeps and dreams and remembers the days before she entered the game, the complicated year predating the disappearance, the woman she was before.
Until they find a door.
