“It’s the thirteenth,” Draken had said as Inui placed his cigarette into Draken’s mouth. They always were confused for people in love, but in reality, they were both so bone-achingly lonely after their combined losses that they really had become something that resembled codependent in a way that played tug-o-war with familial and platonic at the same time. They went to most places together, they lived together. If they weren’t texting, they were probably on the phone and if they weren’t, it was because they were in the same room. They were brothers, but they were also just two people that had seen each other at their worst and remained despite it. Maybe that was what love was. “That’s a thing in America, right?”
Inui blinked as he watched Draken inhale and then turn slightly to blow the smoke out, away from Inui’s face. “What is?”
“Friday the 13th,” Mitsuya sighed. “I know where this is going.”
