Summary
Following an attack that revealed an elaborate plot to end his life and left him severely injured, Cross is forced to not only stop being Nightmare's bodyguard, but accept a bodyguard of his own. Nightmare insists that he'll need the protection while he lays low and waits for the situation to get resolved, but Cross isn't so sure. Even though he's decided to put up with it for Nightmare's sake, he is not happy about it.
The only thing that could possibly make this worse was if, by some insane turn of fate, his new bodyguard just so happened to be his soulmate.

В этом фанфике: одержимая любовь Киллера к его нынешнему боссу. Ужас и отчаяние Найтмера, который не хочет вновь "умереть". Неуклюжие попытки команды «Bad Guys» привыкнуть к новому боссу. Разные точки зрения персонажей, которые так или иначе связанны с происходящим.

Ink wondered that, as the God of Creation. Everything in this multiverse was his. Except for a few things, but... that's not important!
What would happen if he lost hold of it, he thought.
Upon realizing Dream has been absent for 500 years, Ink realizes this what-if might be his reality, just by a tiny bit.
He thought he'd despise such a thing. So then, why is everything about this so enthralling, then? Enjoyable?

Their leader—pinned on the floor, mouth painted violet and gold, enemy underneath him looking a little too smug for someone supposedly captured.
The officer's jaw worked silently for a solid three seconds.
"I—reports—sir—" Voice cracked like thin ice. Papers fluttered. "Sorry! Very sorry—"
They spun, nearly tripping over his own boots, and fled, the door slamming behind him.

The end of an era was near. The war between Positivity and Negativity was ending. Error and Ink had long since disappeared along with the first of every AU. Classic’s universe had been in lockdown even longer. Reaper was tired of reaping souls, Grim was tired of judging and sorting through all the souls, and Death…Death knew something was about to happen. Everyone was tired of all the fighting. However, the final battle had already been set. All that was left were the two protectors, and the ones who will be in charge of fixing the balance between positivity and negativity.
