  "Normal Oak was many things.

  He was a great friend (or he assumed so, his friends(!) seemed to like him), a great son and brother, a very passionate classmate, and the best mascot this school could ask for (or at least he had thought prior to this evening).

  And not only was he many things, he often felt so many things. Excitement for anything related to the school, especially things he got to do as Teenie The Teen, love for his family, joy whenever San Dimas High School won, hope whenever he had a good conversation with someone.

  But now for the first time in his relatively short life, he felt nothing."
