Jake didn't know nearly enough about how Spider had suffered while they'd been separated, and, regrettably, he probably never would, but his children were always brave enough to voice the things that Jake was too much of a coward to say.
“Dad,” Tuk said, looking at Jake with her hand wrapped around Spider’s wrist. “Can you do Tsaheylu with Spider? He says the first time was really bad, because it was with Varang, and she didn’t do it right. But you’ll do it right, so do you think you can do it with him, so he knows what it feels like when it’s done with someone who loves him?”

Peleca Four is a gorgeous, mostly water planet with beaches and vivid vegetation as far as the eye could see, with hot water pools and mermaid-like aliens that are very welcoming to their new human friends. Thor called it a pleasure planet, and Peter had seen enough Star Trek to know what that meant... or he thought he did.
