Summary
One evening, Grunkle Stan decides to clear out his attic full of junk, leaving the old body-swapping carpet laid out in the hallway. Soon, a distraught Mabel, having just been informed of her brother's decision to become Ford's apprentice, runs away with her brother hot on her heels.
The next thing Dipper knows, he's in his sister's body, having felt some weird compelling urge to continue what she was doing and run off into the woods. And it doesn't stop there. Spending a little more time in her shoes, he's forced to acknowledge why she was mad at him in the worst way; and then he's forced to acknowledge how 'freaky-close' they are, if they can swap bodies and not even care that much.

Ingo and Emmet are twins with the Dragons' Blessing - the ability to fuse their bodies into one at will. They have never found the ability very useful in their daily lives as Subway Bosses. However, everything changes when Elesa returns from a trip to Sinnoh with a museum catalogue, and the twins learn of Warden Ingo's existence.
Emmet refuses to let Ingo go to Hisui alone. He will not lose his brother. No matter what else he loses.

Ordinarily, selling off the treasured possessions of one’s family is frowned upon. Especially if said family have yet to actually die. Ingo sold his brother’s soul to a Chandelure when he was ten years old, though, and it has yet to be a point of contention. Maybe because he threw his own into the bargain, too.
But a lack of argument doesn't necessarily mean a lack of consequences—which he discovers rather quickly in Hisui, having forgotten the terms of the deal he made in the first place.

A gift the humans termed fusion. That gift became a requirement: to prove they had the ability to work together, a prospective Warden must spend a full day-and-night cycle in this fusion with their Noble, doing their duties as normal.
Irida, forgive her for saying, is getting a little tired of finding every offered Warden to Lady Sneasler dismissed and discarded, even the ones that had made it through every previous trial. Which is why she has little hope that a stranger from the sky will succeed when others have failed.

Luo Binghe's efforts to pinpoint and travel to the 'nice' Shen Qingqiu's soul don't go according to plan, which is a slightly nicer way of saying that they fail miserably and only end up spitting him out in front of some unimpressive, irritating flower spirit that he'd apparently married a decade ago and promptly forgotten about. Oops.
Even worse, Luo Binghe is struck by a curse that forces him to share a telepathic bond with this little spirit until they learn how to get along. Double oops.
...Actually, doesn't this 'Shen Yuan' seem a bit familiar...?

Shen Qingqiu hummed and picked up the paper sketch Yue Qingyuan was standing over. A tired young boy was looking in the direction of the artist. His face was gaunt and his clothes patched up, but his mouth still held itself in a warm smile.
"Just this one's imagination, I'm afraid. Bits and pieces from the world surrounding us. I think he has your eyes, see?"
He did have his eyes, soft as can be despite being the colour of folded steel. And the shape of his face, and his patient demeanour, and the way he exudes a comforting warmth.
He has kept himself busy. He didn't have time to contemplate how one of his presumed imagined paintings perfectly matched a lively forest he came across weeks after painting it, a place he had never been before.
He already has enough problems to deal with, still trying to gain a stable footing in this new life even though he has lived here for half a dozen months already. So he ignored the way that Yue Qingyuan traced his fingers over the sketch, eyes wide and shiny, and hooked his fingers in his sleeve to pull him over for a cup of tea.
