It takes Eddie a good few seconds to process what the fuck he’s just heard. Sure, that’s hilarious, Bev, he should be saying. Dead. Har-de-fucking-har. Let’s all pretend Eddie isn’t conscious as this place literally crumbles around us! What fun! Getting some good chucks in, aren’t we, everyone? Yes, sir. You bet your fur.
But he can’t say that. Even if he’d only re-met Bev less than two days ago, he knows that thirteen-year-old Eddie would trust her with his life, and that this hasn’t changed. So, as much as he wants to shy away from what she’s saying, he can’t help but consider it with solemnity. Nonetheless, he’s finding it hard to bring himself to look at the looming truth dead-on… no pun intended. Hell, if he really is… that, then he figures he’s allowed a slight moment of hesitation.'
