Summary
It would happen again, of course. His eye would catch on something and then his brain would. An insistent, whining little voice telling him he had made a mistake. He had poured rat poison in the milk, left the burner on, left the gas on. His mother, the entire freshman dorm, Viktor would die and it would be his fault. His mother was the only one who knew. Her mother had been the same way and she helped them both as best she could.
“I’m sorry,” Jayce said quietly in a weak little broken voice. “I get like this sometimes. I just…I couldn’t stop thinking I’d left it on and that something…something might happen to you.”
Viktor narrowed his eyes at him, but now it wasn’t in anger. He was studying him, like he was a difficult equation. It was better, but still uncomfortable. Jayce felt like Viktor’s golden eyes were boring into him, picking apart his imperfect brain.Day 1 JayVik Hurt/Comfort Week - Mental: Jayce's OCD rears its ugly head for Viktor to see for the first time.

Summary
The worst part of all was that he was bored. It had been three days since he had last gone to work, last seen Viktor. There was no one to talk to, bounce ideas off of, just his empty apartment. Sometimes, he imagined Viktor showing up, worried and soft with some wonderful Undercity medicine no one in Piltover knew about to soothe his itching skin. He would caress his cheek with his wonderfully cool hand and say something sweet.
Something like “There, there, Jayce, it’s okay, you’ll be better soon and we can go back to work. I love you, by the way. I thought I should tell you as you are clearly on death’s door. We can discuss wedding plans later, of course. No need to rush into things.”
But that was impossible. And dramatic. Jayce was dramatic when he was sick. His mother told him that with a fond cluck once when was twelve and insisted he was dying from a bad cold. He was pretty sure he was dying now. He should make out a last will and testament.Jayce gets the chickenpox, Viktor comes to the rescue. Day 2 of JayVik Hurt/Comfort Week

Summary
“The water’s getting cold.”
Viktor looked up from the shaving bowl, still avoiding the mirror. Jayce was watching him from the doorway, wearing that sad soft look he got whenever Viktor was doing something depressing. Viktor sighed. Jayce had fetched the water for him to shave with and heated it on the stove because there was no running water in the cabin. It was a feature they had been trying to fix for the better part of a year. It was an act of love.
“I know. I just…” Viktor trailed off helplessly.
“The mirror?” Jayce asked, coming into the small bathroom and putting a warm hand on his shoulder sympathetically.
Viktor nodded jerkily.
“Want me to do it?” Jayce asked.
“No thank you. I’m scarred enough,” Viktor tried to joke, but it came out too sincere.
“V…you know I think you’re beautiful, right?” Jayce sighed, cupping his cheek with gentle adoration.Day 3 of JayVik Hurt/Comfort Week: Viktor is having trouble adjusting to his post-Herald body, Jayce thinks he's beautiful in any form.

Summary
When they wake, they wake softly. They are somewhere different, new sky, different air, softer earth. It is too kind, for him at least, not Jayce who deserves this gentle world. Jayce, who clings to him as soon as they wake, sobbing and peppering his face with longed for kisses, who was so happy they were together, who loved him enough to die with him, even if they are miraculously alive now.
Viktor is happy they are together too. It is simply everything else which steals his voice. He was moments away from killing everyone, destroying the world, and ending Jayce. It is the Jayce part that bothers him the most because that is simply unfathomable. If he had a choice, he would choose Jayce over everyone else and he thinks that’s why his mage counterpart was trying to fix things. Viktor has always suspected that he is a selfish man in his deepest heart of hearts. It should bother him more. It does not, not after all his other flaws were put on stark display in the worst way possible for all to see.
The past haunts both Viktor and Jayce as they try to heal. Viktor can't help but think Jayce might be happier if he left, but can't say it.

Summary
Viktor did not dwell on memories of that Jayce, his sweet and innocent Jayce who loved him in a simple, uncomplicated way. It hurt too much to see him now, still his Jayce, his only three-quarters evolved love.
He wrote his equations in charcoal across the top of the Hexgate. He didn’t go down below anymore. There was no reason to. Jayce was there, above, with him. Dreamless solitude was a prison and he was going to escape it.
Once his paradise becomes a hell, Viktor decides to fix it. All he really wants is his partner back.

Summary
“Go to the party. Put on your Golden Boy mask and flirt with everyone who throws themselves at you. What do I care?” Viktor said in a deadly calm voice and stormed off.
Jayce didn’t even want to go to the stupid party, but they needed funding. The Hexgates were complete and the Hexgems were iin the testing phase, but far too volatile for everyday use and functionally just theory. The Council and their investors were getting antsy. He had to put on a good face, make an appearance. As he watched Viktor’s retreating form, he wondered why he didn’t understand that. He almost called out Viktor to explain, but he didn’t. Instead, he left.
Viktor and Jayce get into a big fight before a party. They work it out when Jayce gets home.

Summary
"When should we go?” Jayce asked.
“We are not going. I am going. They will take one look at you and know an easy mark,” Viktor said firmly, eyeing Jayce’s…everything.
“I’m not an easy mark.”
“A ten year old robbed you in the technical sense because you cannot haggle,” Viktor said bluntly.
“Yeah and if he hadn’t, I might not have met you,” Jayce said, bumping his shoulder against Viktor’s.
Viktor blushed. He wished Jayce wouldn’t say things like that. It made it harder to maintain their friendly whatever it was they had going on for nearly two years now.
Viktor is attacked while visiting the Undercity. He realizes he might not belong anywhere. Jayce has some thoughts on that.
