Summary
He never liked the sound of church bells. They always reminded him of funerals, and that conjured some… rather unpleasant mental imagery he’d rather avoid. You’re trying to think more positively, he reminds himself. He tries to think of weddings instead, the other time of significance when the bells ring. What was that old poem?

Michael assesses the visitor with narrowed eyes. She’s an older looking woman, with streaks of grey striking through her strawberry blonde hair. Her demeanor was serious and professional, her forest green eyes lacking any warmth or pleasantness. Something is itching in the back of his mind, like he knows her from somewhere, which does not help at all with the pit of anxiety growing within him.
“It’s Fitzgerald now,” he says, flashing his wedding ring, “-may I ask why you need to know?”Or:
An unexpected visitor pops up. She brings lots and lots of trouble.

Summary
If he lets himself sit long enough, he’s still back there. Still seventeen, smoking on his barely legal 10 minute lunch break, watching the cars on the road pass by and wishing he was in one of them. Still seventeen, when escaping with Mike in tow was all he ever really wanted. Still seventeen, with his brains on the floor and a love note in hand.
Did he ever really stop being seventeen?
He’s still sitting here, smoking a cig and waiting for his life to fix itself instead of fixing it the right way. He did everything the right way, didn’t he? And it didn’t matter. Now, he did everything the new right way, with happiness first and God second, and he’s still sitting here and waiting to fly away to somewhere where his head hurts a little less.
Or: it’s the anniversary of Jeremy’s ex-wife leaving him and Cassie, and he’s not handling it well. It’s Mike’s turn to be the supportive one, and he’s knows one thing for sure: they’re gonna need a coffee pot

Summary
A non-chronological series of oneshots detailing what happened before Jeremy and Mike reunited in IYFBIML, and all the things they suffered to find each other again
(Technically could be called a stand-alone work, but it’s SO canon divergent that you’d prob be lost without reading at least the original work in the series)
