Summary
What do you say to someone you thought you knew after you’ve spent six months convincing yourself you don’t?
He doesn’t even know how to think of Chris anymore, what words are appropriate to sum up their relationship at this point. It’s hard to believe that a year ago, he would’ve called him a friend, and just months before that, a stranger.

Summary
“FUCK,” Chris swears passionately, as he fumbles both the nut and the bolt he’s been trying to screw back together. Each piece goes bouncing off into oblivion, leaving Chris to stand there holding the air conditioner cover together like an asshole. To the empty kitchen, Chris tips his head back, eyes pinched closed, and reiterates, softer now, “Fuck.”

Summary
Fuck Seb. Fuck Marvel. And fuck this. Chris is not going to be that guy. Not this time. He’s going to do his fucking job, and he’s not going to let his eyes linger on Seb for too long, and he’s going to be a friend instead of a guy to fuck. Chris will not risk losing Seb again just for some ass.

Summary
He bought the first round the night they all went out to toast to the good news, back in the spring during fight training. In those days, he and Seb were still tiptoeing around the rift that had opened up between them in the time between movies, still ignoring the things they’d left unsaid after those last few months of filming, all those nights spent falling into bed together. It had just been for fun, just convenient that there they were, all the way across the Atlantic, weirdly isolated and into each other and not knowing what the future was going to look like.

Summary
He hears Chris clanging up the metal stairs when he opens his door into the hallway, and then there he is, rounding the corner at the end of the hall and Seb can’t believe this is real for a minute. He’s standing here in his socks with half-dry hair and there’s Chris coming at him, grinning all big and stupid and waving when he sees Seb.
He’s looking… God, he’s looking so good. Sure, he’s wearing a backpack and a baseball hat like a goddamn third grader, but Seb can see the sleeves of that tight white T-shirt straining against those massive biceps from a mile away, and he instantly clocks the movement of Chris’s junk in his loose Adidas track pants.

Summary
“Ugh, I missed you,” Seb replies, tightening his arms around Chris’s middle. “I’m tired, but I really missed you.”
Pulling back, Chris holds Seb at arm’s length, both thumbs braced to the insides of Seb’s elbows so he can get a good look. He knows Seb got big, but he didn’t realize Seb was still big. His upper arm muscles are so thick Chris can barely get his hands around them.

Summary
There’s the distinct sound of something hitting the hardwood floor in the other room, before the bathroom tap turns on and then off again. Chris flips the last sandwich he’s making, waits another beat, and then yells, “BABE!”

Summary
Chris is playing beer pong, and he’s fucking losing.
“Seb!” He yells, just drunk enough to no longer truly be able to moderate his voice.
Beside him, Seb is cracking up. Seb’s desperately trying to keep his hand steady - if his tongue poking out is any indication, anyway - and has one of his eyes squinted closed as he takes aim for their next shot.
None of these things make him fucking suck any less.

Summary
New York is always alive, and as Chris drives down the parkway, he feels that familiar kick in his gut. It’s in the silver and grey skyline ahead, and between the lines of trees on either side of the road. They’re all a part of the path that lead back to one person.
Chris never really knew Manhattan before he met Seb. He’d visited New York for a trip in senior year, and he’d taken his fair share of business meetings in various high rises, but it was always just that - in and out. Seb was the one who showed Chris the softer side; the warmth and comfort that followed carving out your own little piece of home.
Now these streets and Seb are thoroughly intertwined, and, as a result, Chris finds himself grinning stupidly as he sits in traffic, waiting for the light to change.

Summary
Outside, the sun is just beginning to set over the Hollywood Hills. It leaves the backyard a deep shade of green, lush looking under the pink and purple sky. On his way out of the kitchen, Seb turns the pool lights on with his elbow, and heads down to the patio where Chris, Mike and Christine are chilling around the firepit.

Summary
Now that half of the donut is gone, Chris delicately places it back into its paper wrapper, and nestles it in the bag.
“Ha ha, Seb,” he says, licking donut glaze from his thumb. “I already know what you got me!”
Seb shoulder checks, switches lanes, and says, “Oh this I’d like to hear.”

Summary
Aside from the two of them, the hallway is empty.
“Chris isn’t coming,” Seb announces. He gives the door handle to their room a tug so the lock clicks all the way, and then pats his thighs down, making sure he remembered to grab his phone.
Mackie is half-asleep. He still manages a pretty impressive eye roll.

Summary
In the kitchen he gets a big glass of water and grimaces to himself as he cleans up the pre-workout powder Chris apparently spilled everywhere. The only man on earth who gags back a dry scoop of fruit punch at 5 in the morning. Seb makes a face but also kind of laughs to himself as he thinks about it.
