Summary
Nico felt like Icarus. Fly too close to the sun, and your wings will melt. Fly too close to the sea, your wings will grow heavy.
Nico had already flown too close to the sea. He had allowed his infatuation with Percy to rule his life, his decisions, for far to many years. His wings had grown heavy, and he’d drowned.
Icarus had made a mistake. He strayed too far, entranced by the kindness of the light. The dark wouldn’t be as welcoming, ushering you in with no hesitancy and crossed arms. That didn’t work out so well for Icarus. So, Nico would allow this filter, this light, to cover him, shroud him in kindness, and possibility, and warmth. But he would not cross further. He would not succumb to the light only to fall forever into darkness. He would do what Icarus couldn’t. Nico di Angelo would not fly too close to the sun.

Summary
Lee had been brave, and calm. He hadn’t been afraid to challenge Clarisse, who was almost two feet taller than he was and the daughter of the god of war. He hadn’t been afraid to die, either. He should’ve been.
Lauren was quiet, and reserved, but she always made time for her siblings. She had been quiet all of her life, but somehow the quiet of her delicately preserved body had felt wrong.
Micheal had been tiny, and loud, and angry, all the time, but he was Will’s best friend. Micheal had been the one to tell Will that he had a new family now. People who wouldn’t flake, or ignore him. People who would never leave him. He had told him they they would all be there for him, no matter what.
What a load of bullshit.
Grief presents itself in many ways. For Will, it comes in the form of photos.
Takes place in between chapter 20 and 21 of How Icarus Fell From the Sun, and can be read on its own.

Will groaned, and threw himself back down onto Nico’s bed.
“Can’t you tell? Just do your death magic shit and see how he feels?”
“I’m going to pretend you didn’t just call it ‘death magic shit’ because you’re in distress right now. I already told you, and Chiron for that matter. He feels mortal. Like death is just... crawling all over him.”
takes place during the hidden oracle. can be read on its own. rated for swearing

Summary
His life is in tattered pieces, his sister is dead, his soul is extinguished, and he is officially eleven.
In truth, he doesn’t even know why he’s crying. He made his peace with his situation, the new life he is leading, long ago. Maybe it is the fact that it’s his first birthday without his sister. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s been a full month and he is no closer to Bianca than he was when Percy handed him that stupid figurine. Maybe it’s just because he’s barely eleven, and he’s already had to fight so much. He’s tired. He wants a home, and a bed, and sister to go back to. He wants someone to miss him, while he lives like this. To know it’s worth it because in the end there will be someone there for him, to hug him and tell him it’s going to be okay.
He wants Bianca back.
He cries himself to sleep, tucked up and small as his body convulses but he keeps quiet, shivering in the cold and wishing he had some sort of answer.
He is only eleven.
Can be read on its own.Series
