It's so unusual to read first person POV. I's so well done here. I really like how you combined the dinnner with the Dad and the rest of the story. You used so much of what is established in the show an fit it in so nicely. Bottom Gao Shi De is something we need more in stories.
I loved this part especially: I had left Shuyi as an innocent and happy student, only to find him again as a grown man with responsibilities and a fair share of scars. Scars I had caused, at least to some extend, which were still itching and aching and required care. I keep thinking they glossed over a lot in the show that I wished they had adressed more.
Also this: It felt like molten gold, a heap of sensation within me, a hidden cave that only Shuyi had ever discovered.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the story! I totally agree, after all the drama of the first two or three episodes, I found it kinda surprising how quickly they settled into lovey-dovey mode and all the heartbreak suddenly seemed forgotten. I think it's mostly due to the short screen time, but still I had the urge to address it some more.
